VISTANCIA RESIDENTS DONATE TO GOODWILL OF CENTRAL ARIZONA
- 15,000 Pounds of Donations Collected For Good Cause -
Bargain hunters found plenty of great deals during Vistancia's recent community garage sale but the real winner of the day was Goodwill of Central Arizona.
Residents donated more than 15,000 pounds - or the equivalent of a 48-foot trailer - worth of goods to the non-profit including an antique Singer sewing machine, an organ and a washer and dryer. The revenue from the donations will be reinvested by Goodwill to provide career training services to disadvantaged Arizonans.
"We value community partners like Vistancia - whose spirit of giving helps us accomplish our mission to put people to work," said Goodwill spokesperson Chandra Stewart. "Generous community donations help us fund needed job-skills training programs and career services for Arizonans who need a hand up to become self-sufficient through the power of work."
The community-wide garage sale, sponsored by the Vistancia Village Homeowners Association, took place in the north Peoria community, located northwest of Lake Pleasant Road and Happy Valley Parkway, on November 10.
More than 90 homes took part in the neighborhood event, with detailed maps listing participating homes provided to eager shoppers at the community's Mountain Vista Club.
"Events like this truly show how Vistancia has grown into a generous, giving community," said Curt Smith, chief operating officer for Sunbelt Holdings, the developer
of the community in a partnership with Shea Homes. "It demonstrates the caring nature of our residents."
